What does the Bible say about Baptism?
There is a lot of confusion out there about the subject of "baptism." Some say baptism is the "means" of salvation. This means that the water of baptism imparts grace into the believer/child to cause them to be saved. On the other hand, some say that baptism is merely a symbol of salvation that has already taken place in the "heart" of the believer. This means that mental assent is the "means" of salvation. The Bible teaches that putting our faith and trust in Jesus means repenting and being baptized.
To Be Reconciled to Christ
We believe that we are forgiven of our sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, repent of our sins, confess Jesus as Lord, and are immersed in Christian baptism (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 22:16). It is then that we become Christians and are added to the church of Jesus Christ.
